Padre Pio

Synopsis:

As World War I comes to a conclusion, the young Italian soldiers are returning to San Giovanni Rotondo, a violent and violently oppressive region under the iron fist of the church and its powerful landowners. Families are in dire straits, and although they have won, the men are broken. With an air of charm, saintliness, and dramatic visions of Jesus, Mary, and even the Devil himself, Padre Pio also makes his way to a distant Capuchin monastery to begin his ministry. An catastrophic catastrophe that alters the course of history takes place on the eve of Italy’s first free elections, setting the stage for a symbolic bloodbath.
